Metal Blade Records has two new amazing pre-orders! TYR and GWAR are both coming out with highly anticipated albums so be sure to snag both.

“Battle Maximus” was conceived and recorded over the last year at the bands self-operated Slave Pit Studios, and was mixed by veteran metal producer Glen Robinson and mastered by the matchless Howie Weinberg. It features twelve brand-new tracks of sonic sedition guaranteed to make even the most hardened GWAR fans head explode, merely by looking at the packaging. With songs like “Madness at the Core of Time”, “Torture”, and “They Swallowed the Sun”, the album not only tells the next chapter in the never-ending story of GWAR, but also stands as a tribute to the band’s long-time guitar player, the incomparable Flattus Maximus, who left Earth and returned to the cosmos to fulfill his glorious destiny almost two years ago.
Rather than attempt to emulate the un-matchable sound of Flattus, who had led the band from the depths of clown-rock to the elite tier of top-notch metal acts with a series of bone-crushing recordings starting with 2000’s “Violence Has Arrived”, Oderus and company struck out in a bold new direction. Enlisting the aid of Pustulus Maximus, cousin of Flattus, who wrested the right to join forces with GWAR after waging the epic “Battle Maximus”, GWAR has created one of their most awe-inspiring albums to date, one that is sure to join the ranks of “Scumdogs of the Universe” and “Lust in Space”, as the ultimate expressions of GWAR’s contempt for modern society and the hypocrisy and horror of a world gone mad.
Next up is TYR’s highly anticipated album “Valkyrja”! Their seventh studio album ships on or around September 12th, 2013. Choose from some awesome bundles including vinyl and shirts!
01. Blood of Heroes
02. Mare of My Night
03. Hel Hath No Fury
04. The Lay of Our Love
06. Another Fallen Brother
08. Into the Sky
09. Fánar Burtur Brandaljóð
10. Lady of the Slain
12. Where Eagles Dare
13. Cemetery Gates
Valkyrja, the 7 full-length album from the Faroe Islands natives TÝR, is a concept album with a story line based loosely around an anonymous Viking age warrior who leaves his woman and goes off to impress the Valkyrie on the battlefield so that she may bring him to Valhalla, or to Fólkvangr, the home of Freyja—the goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death. One can say the album is also indirectly about women and how they affect men and what men will do to impress and obtain women. Frontman and founder Heri Joensen goes on to explain; “the woman that the warrior leaves may represent the earthly women. Freyja, The Lady Of The Slain, may represent the perfection of Women, and the Valkyrie is the link between the two, taking men from earthly to godly women.”
4th Annual GWAR-B-Q announced w/Municipal Waste, Corrosion Of Conformity, Pig Destroyer, and more as openers!
UPDATE: Check out the new commercial for the GWAR-B-Q! This is going to be righteous!
Stacked lineup this year. GWAR, Municipal Waste, Corrosion Of Conformity, Pig Destroyer, and Cannabis Corpse will be shredding the 4th annual GWAR-B-Q!!! Full info including ticket information (coming soon) can be found at www.gwarbq.com.
Press statement is below:
“Antarctic rock-gods GWAR today released the first line-up for this year’s GWAR-B-Q, located at Hadad’s Water Park in Richmond, VA. This year sees the event entering its fourth consecutive year while offering its most bone-crushing line-up yet, setting the stage for what will certainly be the most massive GWAR-B-Q in the history of the human or any other race!
The event is scheduled to take place Saturday August 17th, 2013 at Hadad’s Water Park in Richmond, VA, located at 7900 Osbourne Turnpike. Doors will open at 10:00 AM and the first band will hit the stage at 11:00 AM.
Local faves and international thrashers Municipal Waste will provide main support to the mighty GWAR, and in turn will be supported by a plethora of devastating acts like Corrosion of Conformity, Pig Destroyer, Cannabis Corpse, Loincloth, Kung-Fu Dykes and many more. Once again Hadad’s will host not one but TWO stages which will be packed with bands all day…and finally there are rumors of a yet-to-be-announced act that will put this year’s GWAR-B-Q 2013 completely over the top!
“Once again we blow the horn of war and set into motion the gears that grind us towards the greatest GWAR-B-Q yet,” said unrepentantly horny front-thing Oderus Urungus, fresh off debuting GWAR’s new “GWAR-B-Q” sauce at a strongly attended event at the world-famous Grinders in Kansas City (see more details HERE). “We will not only be rockin’ like Dokken, but we will shoving a wealth of GWAR products down your throat…not only our new GWAR-B-Q sauce, but our very own beer, Impaled Ale! Eat and drink yourself into a diabetic stupor, then puke it all up in the slam pit! It’s gonna rule!”
That’s right, the 4th annual GWAR-B-Q is poised to make yet another stinky mess in the crotch of today’s scene–BE THERE OR SUFFER THE SHAME OF BEING INCREDIBLY PATHETIC!

Heavy metal space mutants GWAR have announced their new guitarist Pustulus Maximus!
Lead singer Dave Brockie had this to say about the addition:
“Everyone knows we lost Cory last year and it’s been a rough time,” begins Brockie. “But we have been forging onwards, we’ve been writing new songs, and we’re in the middle of writing a really awesome new album. And part of the whole process was finding a new guitar player and I’m really happy [to say that] Brent Purgason, who plays in Antietam 1862 and Cannabis Corpse now plays in this little band called GWAR. He was a really good friend of Cory’s and he’s just a perfect fit. He actually got the job about a month ago and he’s been in the Slave Pit five days a week. We’ve been working really hard on the new album. . . His [character] name is ‘Pustulus Maximus.’”

YES! GWAR’s annual GWARBQ was a huge success!
Oderus Urungus speaks:
“Beyond our wildest dreams, and they can get pretty kinky, we were almost completely 100 % satisfied with this years GWAR-B-Q”, said lead singer Oderus Urungus, reached at his Antarctic bungalo. “Everything went well, except that hottie from Attack of the Show didn’t show up…but I suppose that is understandable. We did feed her to a worm last year!”
From everything to the weather (which was an enjoyable 85 degrees), to the authorities (who seemed to be enjoying themselves), to the bands ( who all put on amazing sets), all conditions were in perfect alignment and the much-anticipated event went off without a hitch…well, almost.
Slave Pit spokesman Dave Brockie had this to say about the event-“The “Meat and Beat” went great, and Oderus stayed in the area an extra three hours to make sure everybody got to hang out with their Lord and Master. It was a great line-up of great bands, and we got to see both Sleazy P. AND The Sexecutioner! It was a huge improvement over last year (when we didn’t even manage to have it outside) – we made big strides this year and I am sure next year we will get even bigger and better. Rest assured any hiccups we had have been noted and will be sorted out for next year’s event…so see ya at GWAR-B-Q 2013!”

Guitar World online has the exclusive stream to a song off The Cory Smoot Experiment! The song is called “Mutilation” and comes off his post humous Metal Blade release “When Worlds Collide.” The album comes out June 5th and all proceeds will be donated to the Smoot Family Fund.
Dave Brockie aka Oderus Urungus of GWAR had this to say about his fallen guitarist:
“Cory Smoot is one of the great unsung heroes of metal. His musical abilities transformed GWAR from a splatter-thrash phenomena into a top metal act. And though he may have left us way too early, he left us a lifetime of music to listen to. He tore it up like few others, and will always be remembered as the true Flattus Maximus. We really loved the man, and there is not a day that goes by or a GWAR show that is played where he is not sorely missed.”
There are also two shirts up to Celebrate Cory’s life and again proceeds will be donated to help out his family.

After a brief arctic slumber your Lords and Masters GWAR will be returning to the road this Spring on the second leg of their “Return of the World Maggot Tour”. The tour kicks off with a special tribute show for fallen band mate and friend Cory Smoot, AKA Flattus Maximus, in Richmond, VA, at The National Theater on Friday March 16th. All proceeds from the Richmond show will benefit the “Smoot Family Fund” which has been established to help support Cory’s widow and their unborn child. Support on this run will come from fellow Richmond metallers Municipal Waste and California’s Ghoul. Legacy of Disorder will join the tour on March 20th in Boston and the tour will run through April 11th in Fort Collins, CO.
Tickets for fan club members go on sale tomorrow January 25th and tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday January 27th and Saturday January 28th .
Personal slave to Oderus and Slave Pit spokesman Dave Brockie had this to say…
“All the years of doing GWAR could never have prepared us for what we have been through, and I want to thank the metal community and the extended GWAR family for all of your support. Finishing that last tour was the hardest thing we have ever had to do, and we still have about half of the country left to hit. We will continue as a four-piece, with the special tribute to Flattus at the end of the show, in order to give our fans a chance to say goodbye to our fallen Scumdog brother in true GWAR fashion-covered in blood and rocking the fuck out! After this tour is over we can start looking to the future and begin to put this tragedy behind us. But for now we are still in “Hail Flattus” mode!”
