The album, aptly titled “Pain Is A Warning” was produced by Kurt Ballou and will be released via Black Market Activities/Good Fight Entertainment on August 16th. Frontman Steve Austin had this to say about the record:

“[The album contains] some of the most rocking, most epic music ever layed down by Today Is The Day. I am putting all of the hardships and triumphs of the past 3 years into this album. After many changes in personnel, Today Is The Day finally feels like a real band. We’re ready to go at it now harder than ever.”

New to the IndieMerch fold is The First Twenty, a non profit organization dedicated to improving the health of the American firefighter. Their mission is to decrease Line of Duty Deaths due to heart attack in today’s fire service. Heart attacks are the #1 killer of firefighters and half of all line of duty deaths come from them.

They are also commited to:
1. Designing fitness, wellness, and educational programs based on the most up-to-date research.
2. Creating data systems and bringing together key stakeholders which can contribute to future research on firefighter health and fitness.
3. Working with universities and hospitals on developing research to make advances in firefighter wellness.

The organization has opened up an official webstore with us so you can show your support. Proceeds will be going to the organization to help prolong the lives of the brave people who are saving lives on a day to day basis. Please pass this site along to friends and family that have relatives who are firefighters so they can help as well.

Utah Jazz enthusiasts GAZA are playing two righteous shows with Burning Love (Ex-Cursed/The Swarm) and All Pigs Must Die (members of Hope Conspiracy and Converge). The shows are in Chicago June 25th and Los Angeles June 26th and are part of the Scion Metal Matinee’s and are free if you RSVP.

The band has also unleashed an amazing new design titled “Unholy Culkin” featuring an iconic character of the nineties in the most precarious of positions. I wonder what Daniel Stern is doing right now.

“Writing new songs that will enter your brain the same way they’re going to leave it: destroyed, depressed, and full of regret.”

Can’t wait.

House of Blues Entertainment, Decibel Magazine, Metal Blade Records, IndieMerch and RED/’stache Media have joined forces to present the first ever Metal, Arise! Tour for developing metal artists, it was announced by Kelly Kapp, vice president, House of Blues Entertainment. The debut tour will feature Metal Blade recording artists Allegaeon, Earache recording artists The Browning and Century Media recording artists The Devastated.

“We are really proud and excited to team up with Decibel, Metal Blade, IndieMerch & RED,” Kapp said. “This is a tour that will pair developing metal bands and great local artists. We feel we can create a circuit that benefits metal artists throughout the country. We hope to grow Metal, Arise! into a quarterly tour so we can continue to cultivate great heavy metal talent.”

Kelli Malella, vice president, publicity & advertising, Metal Blade Records, said, “When Kelly first brought up the idea of a tour to help develop new metal bands in the states, I immediately wanted to be involved. And not just for the sake of my own bands trying to launch their careers, but for all the bands out there just trying to get a break and land a U.S. tour. The Metal, Arise! Tour has been created by people who truly love our scene and want to give new bands the chance to tour the U.S. and prove themselves to metalheads across the states. The Metal, Arise! Tour also gives local bands the chance to showcase their talents while giving them a shot at getting noticed by labels who are constantly keeping an ear to the ground for up-and-coming local acts to sign. We’re keeping ticket costs as low as possible in hopes that you, the fans, will give these bands a chance and check them out.”

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 24th and more info can be found at www.houseofblues.com.

MMA fighter and IndieMerch family member Josh Barnett won his fight against Brett Rogers at the 49th Strikeforce event on Saturday. Barnett submitted Rogers with an arm triangle in the second round of the bout, improving his record to 30-5.

Following info was taken from Fightline.com:

“The fight was all Barnett from the opening bell, with the 33-year-old managing to get “The Grim” to the mat in short order, where he quickly established mount. Rogers tried hard to shake Barnett off, but the seasoned fighter held his ground and the position for the entirety of the first frame.

The second round showed more of the same, with Barnett getting Rogers down and mounted early on. Once there, Barnett applied an arm triangle which had Rogers tapping before he had fully established the position.

Keeping up his pro-wrestling inspired act, which he debuted at the open workouts — MMAFighting.com has a video up of Barnett and his teammate engaging in a full-on pro-wrestling match before launching into an impassioned tirade on the hard times he’s gone through, which you should definitely check out if you haven’t already — Barnett politely snatched the microphone from Strikeforce commentator Gus Johnson’s hands post-fight and delivered another memorable speech ending with the promise that he’ll end the Grand Prix standing over his fallen competitors with the belt.”
