Revocation have begun recording their as-yet untitled new album at Damage Studios in Southbridge, Massachusetts. The band is tracking the outing with engineer Pete Rutcho and are aiming for a summer release date through Relapse. Band vocalist/guitarist David Davidson had the following to say on the sessions:

“We are currently wrapping up the recording process for our 3rd studio album and we firmly believe that this is our strongest material to date. The songs on the new release are incredibly varied and all have the own character. They range from technical thrash to groove laden death metal, there’s even a song with a full horn section this time around. We can’t wait for people to check it out!”

In the meantime, the groups cover of Death‘s “Pull The Plug” will be released as the special flexi disc featured in the March issue of Decibel Magazine. An audio stream of said cover can be found below:

“Check out Despised Icon’s very last show in Montreal. The entire set filmed by Bande A Part. Over an hour of destruction in our hometown featuring appearances by past members and a couple of friends. These are the greatest hits man, check it out!”

UPDATE: I’ll just leave this latest update from Cattle Decapitation right here. EWWWWW.

In all seriousness though, keep checking back for updates on the album title and the righteous pre-order we will have up for the band. Surely not to miss.

San Diego grind legends Cattle Decapitation are hard at work on their 7th album. The band posted a teaser to start the foaming of the collective mouths of their fan base:

Guitarist Josh Elmore had to say about the release:
“As it comes down to the home stretch before recording, we have been focusing on getting the last two songs written as well as refining and tightening the tracks which are already completed. The overwhelming impression I get from this new batch of tunes is that they have benefitted greatly from a more streamlined approach to composition and song structure. A lot of these songs are very ‘to-the-point’ with just enough embellishment to keep them dynamic, whilst avoiding sinking into some bells-and-whistles mire. Lean and mean.

“There will be no forays in 8-string djentiness and none of us bought v-neck shirts or deck shoes to ‘modernize’ our sound and look, respectively. Expect some riffy, ripping blackened deathgrind with nods to our past work and tastes of what’s to come. These songs are going to be a blast to play live and we are anxious to have these recorded and get on the road to play them for you.”

I’m sold! Speaking of selling, score some killer merch from your favorite Vegan heroes at the Cattle Decapitation official merch store.
